Towers of Tallinn and brilliant musicians!

 

In the Festival "Towers of Tallinn" Corelli Music connects the history of ancient Tallinn, the tips of it's towers and the tops of creatives. Festival introduces the city's famous silhouette inside out through different eras of music.

Medieval city walls, churches, modern skyscrapers - whole Tallinn will be filled with music from medieval times and baroque to folk, jazz and contemporary music.

 

Classy concerts and beautiful music, musical walks, end-of-summer sunsets, adorable panoramas of Tallinn and horizon over the sea - exciting happenings through days!

The festival "Towers of Tallinn" was born in the year of 2011 when Tallinn held the title of European Capital of Culture. It was one of the prime events that August.

PROGRAM: "VIVA TANGO"

PERFORMER: Trio MAAG

Kaspar Uljas (bandoneon), Marek Talts (guitars), Mingo Rajandi (double bass)

Trio Maag is a group formed in 2015. Their repertoire consists of Latin-American music with main focus on Argentinian tango. Trio performs older, so called classical tangos as well as more jazzy creation of contemporary composers. Program includes the music of world famous tango-reformer Astor Piazzolla, Eduardo Rovira, living legend Dino Saluzzi, surprising Igor Stravinsky and many others. Rhythms are full of passion and melodies full of emotions. Bienvenidos!

PROGRAM: „With spark and sizzle"

PERFORMER: Young musicians from the music school of Vanalinna Hariduskolleegium and teacher Ene Nael.

Masters and apprentices will perform the charming harpsichord music from different centuries.

 

Entrance from the Maiden Tower with the museum ticket of four towers 10€ /6€ (option to visit the towers as well)

 

19.00 Gate tower (Lühike jalg 9, Tallinn)

PROGRAM: „Viol music between castle and merchant house"

PERFORMER: Viol Consort väikerinG

Peeter Klaas, Arvo Haasma, Melissa Jõesaar, Villu Vihermäe

Beautiful consort music from 16-17th century England. Alfonso Ferrabosco II, Thomas Morley, Tobias Hume, Giovanni Coperario etc.

Viol consort väikerinG consists companions of destiny and thought, who feel passionate about viola da gamba and music written for it.

PROGRAM: „Swing music from the years 1940-1970"

PERFORMER: David O'Brock (vokaal) and Tallinn University of Technology Wind Band (conductors Tarmo Kivisilla and Diana Mäeväli)

Jazz standards („Straighten Up and Fly Right", „Come Fly with Me", „L-O-V-E", „My Way", „Soul bossa Nova", „Birdland") and Raimond Valgre songs in english and for the instruments.

20.00 Pada (Kalasadama 6, Tallinn)

PROGRAM: „We need to talk"

PERFORMER: Siim Aimla Funk Band

Siim Aimla (saxophone), Jason Hunter (trumpet), Sten Valdmaa (trombone), Artis Boriss (keys), Paul Daniel (guitar), Peedu Kass (bass), Eno Kollom (trums).

Funk has been flowing in the veins of Siim Aimla already for a long time. In fact it's the part of funk represented by James Brown, Michael and Randy Brecker and Nils Landgren. The long-time idea of forming his own funk band was brought to life in 2017. Now, few years later band has realigned and its member have settled. They are working on their first album „We need to talk". Band derives inspiration from various places but foremost from the creation of Nils Landgren and Michael Brecker.
