Anti Marguste’s Campanulaceae / The Bellflower Family for harpsichord, completed in 2009, is a set of miniature pieces inspired by the delicate, wonderful, dignified, and strong flowers of the bellflower family (campanula in Latin means “a little bell”). This is the premiere of Marguste’s work, with which we commemorate his death in January 2016.
The harpsichord’s fragile and distinct sound has inspired many other Estonian composers as well. A selection of works for harpsichord by Mirjam Tally, Kristjan Kõrver, Tõnu Kõrvits, and Rein Rannap will be performed. The Harpsichord Concerto by Rannap had great success at its premiere in the summer of 2015 as a part of Manor Concert series. This will be the first time this groovy piece is performed in Tallinn.
Concert is organized by Estonian Harpsichord Festival and Estonian Music Days
