Celebrating 325th
anniversary of J. S. Bach (1685 - 1750), Corelli Music and Voces Musicales
perform one of the most beautiful and emotional masterpieces in the history of
classical music, Bach´s St John Passion (1724). The concert is a part of
popular concert series
Church Holidays in St. Mary´s Land and presents the best Estonian
performers of Bach´s music, Corelli Baroque Orchestra on the original
instruments and Voces Musicales chamber choir. Voces Musicales was awarded the
title of the best choir in Estonia
in 2009. The piece will be conducted by Risto Joost, the best Estonian
conductor of the year 2009.
The St John Passion,
based on the text of the Bible (chapters 18 and 19) is the very first large
scale oratorio-like work by Bach, composed in Leipzig. The author has used Martin Luther´s
translation of the Bible making only very slight changes to it. The premiere of
the masterpiece took place on Good Friday of 1724.
An exclusive musical gift especially for you, preferring the
ultimate in quality. With style and elegance!
In cooperation with Estonian Evangelical Lutheran
Church,
under the patronage of
Archbishop Andres Põder.
