Extraordinary
lounge concerts in historical halls of Tartu and Tallinn will
continue with a beautiful musical greeting from Vienna for real music
gastronomes. Corelli season opening concerts, organised in
collaboration with Austrian Embassy, have invited the ensemble
CONCILIUM MUSICUM WIEN to perform in Tallinn. One can enjoy music
that is known and loved in whole world. The programme GREETINGS FROM
VIENNA include both music by composers of First Viennese School such
as Haydn and Mozart, but also lovely lounge music tunes - polkas
and valses that have made famous both father and son Johann Strauss,
Joseph Lanner, etc. In addition to usual strings and flute, the
Austrian musicians play on rare instrument viola
d'amore.
The
season opening concerts also introduce the magnificent architecture
of Tartu and Tallinn. Tartu City Museum is situated in the former
Pistohlkors' City Palace, a gorgeous building that belonged to
Lieutenant W. C. von Pistohlkors and was complited in 1790. Attention
must be paid to the ballroom of this luxorious yet classical
building, which, similarly to the hall in the Roosna-Alliku manor is
decorated with rich stucco coating.
The
other aristocratic palace, first mentioned in the 14th century, is
situated right in the heart of ancient Tallinn old town, on the Town
Hall Square. The facade and spacing of the palace emerged in the
middle of the 19th century. Since 1947, there is a cultural centre
(Õpetajate maja) operating in this building. The season opening
concert takes place in Crown Hall, in the most beautiful part of
parade rooms on 2nd floor of this building.
Cosy
music lounges with brilliant musicians and history-flavoured interior
are waiting for you!
