Best Estonian
harpsichord players perform on wonderful old keyboards at the gala of the VII
Harpsichord Festival that takes place in the most beautiful hall, the
historical city palace of the Ungern-Sternberg family. Known today as
the building of the Estonian
Academy of Sciences, it
hosts concert series of great success and always full house, the Musical Salon
in Toompea organized by the Corelli Music concert agency. Its luxurious
interior offers pleasant opportunity to listen to excellent choice of pieces in
the most enjoyable atmosphere with stunning view to the Old Tallinn.
The gala takes place in collaboration of Corelli Music and
the main organiser of the Harpsichord Festival, the Estonian Harpsichord Friends' Society. The Artistic Director of the
festival is harpsichordist Imbi Tarum, one of the leading figures of early
music interpretation in Estonia.
Among the performers of the festival, there are outstanding Estonian
harpsichord players such as Ene
Nael, Kristiina Are, Reinut Tepp, Marju Riisikamp, Iren Lill and others.
The programme of the gala consists both of classical and
contemporary music. Wonderful selection of classical pieces starting with the
music by Bach, Mozart and Rameau meets contemporary compositions by Ligeti,
Estonian Tõnu Kõrvits and others. Besides, harpsichordists Ene Nael and
Kristiina Are perform their own improvisations that are the best and the most
professional "guide" to the rich world of harpsichord.
