The year will end with traditionally radiant large scale
works in St. John’s Churches in Tartu and Tallinn. These concerts have
captivated the audience already for 10 years. Händel’s most popular oeuvre „Messiah” was written in
1741 and has become the most famous oratorio in the world. Especially enjoyable
are the beautiful arias and powerful choir parts, that tell the most important
story of the Virgin Mary – baby Jesus being born. This distinctive piece is
most suitable to finish the “Eight
centuries of the land of Mary“ festivities
and ending the Year of Music 2015.

Christmas time with
beautiful music in churches, manors and music lounges all over Estonia!
Corelli Music brings joy to its audiences fifth year in a
row with a Christmas music festival “Church Holidays in the Land of Mary”. It lasts throughout the long holiday season from the First of Advent on
28-29th of November, through anticipation of Christmas and the
festive end of the year concerts until the Epiphany and the Orthodox Christmas
on January 7th. Celebrating a
small jubilee Corelli Music dedicates the festival to the festivity year “Eight centuries of the land of Mary“ and rejoices over a new organ in the Tartu St. Paul’s church. The
tradition of performing large-scale works at the last days of the year has its
10th anniversary and is a festive ending also to
the Year of Music 2015. The patron of “Church Holidays in the Land of Mary” is the president of the Estonian Council of
Churches, Archbishop Emeritus Andres Põder.
The
programme of the festival consists of concerts „Organ, the King of all
Instruments in the Land of Mary“ November 28-29th in Tartu and Tallinn; „Cantigas de Santa Maria“
December 5-6th in
Rogosi Manor and Tallinn Teachers House; „Messiah“ December 28-29th in Tartu and Tallinn;
„Classical music’s new star!“ January 7th in Tallinn. Estonian musicians Ene Salumäe (organ), early
music ensemble Rondellus, brilliant vocal soloists, Estonian Philharmonic
Chamber Choir’s ensemble, Corelli Baroque Orchestra, conductor Martin Sildos
and the new vocal ensemble Intonacio all offer you great musical experiences
for Christmas.
