Performers:
Ann Wallström (baroque violin, Sweden)
Ensemble Corelli Consort on period instruments
|
Programme:
Chamber music from
Biber, Corelli, Roman, Scarlatti and other baroque composers.
The programme derives its name from a famous cycle by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber
(1644–1704), The Rosary Sonatas.
This remarkable set of sonatas has got its inspiration from the Bible, the
pieces can be considered to be meditations on the life of Christ and Virgin
Mary. Whereas Biber uses unconventional way of tuning the open strings of
violin, The Rosary Sonatas have very special, sometimes even mystic sound.
