Ensemble Revali Trubaduurid (named after an ancient name of Tallinn) is performing music dating back to the Middle-Ages. The ensemble is using unique combination of instruments: nyckelharpa (a traditional Swedish musical instrument), recorders, lute, djembe (a hand drum of African origin), Estonian zither and other instruments from different countries.

Each member of the Revali Trubaduurid is an excellent musician, playing several instruments, singing, and improvising. The ensemble is wearing beautiful colourful costumes inspired by clothes of the Middle-Ages.

Last year, the programme titled as “Christmas music from the Middle-Ages” was a great success, attracting more audience than the concert venues could receive. This year, there are some new exciting pieces added to the programme, the Cantigas de Santa Maria, songs from a medieval manuscript composed under the reign of Spanish king Alfonso X (1221−1284) and dedicated to the Virgin Mary, included. Besides this, the programme presents beautiful selection of duets from the IX to XV centuries, Gregorian chants for Christmas time, and musical pearls telling little stories about wine, love and soul of troubadours.
